Forms and Letters

To make the process easier for students, the below letters will no longer need to be picked up at the KPU International office in person. Please download the appropriate form on this page. After completing the form, you may submit it through the KPU International iCent app or email internationalstudents@kpu.ca. International Student Advisors will send the PDF letter to your KPU email account once it is processed. You no longer need to come in-person to pick up the letters.

Confirmation of Enrolment Letter

WhatWhenHow 
It is a standard letter which proves your enrolment in the current semester

It provides information about current enrolment, such as Faculty, program, number of credits the student is currently registered in and credits completed.

The letter does not require the signature of the Registrar or International Student Advisors.

NOTE: Enrolment verifications are not a substitute for a transcript; they do not include grades, credentials, etc.

To extend your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) when you have a valid study permit

To prove you are a full-time student at KPU

Please login to Online Self-Service, select

  4. Select the desired term from the dropdown menu
 

Confirmation of Enrolment Letter – Special Purpose

It is a personalized letter with detailed information about your academic enrolment, specifically your academic progress and expected completion date.

It is subject to a $20 fee.

To extend your Temporary Resident Visa if you are NOT registered in the current semester, when you have a valid study permit

To receive a Military Service Letter

Meet with an International Student Advisor to learn if you need the Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) Special Purpose letter and receive a copy of the request form if such letter is needed.

International Student Advisors will send the PDF letter to your KPU email account once it is processed. You no longer need to come in-person to pick up your letter.
 

Study Permit Extension Letter

It is a personalized letter with detailed information about your academic enrolment and expected completion date.

To extend your Study Permit, which will expire within 120 days, AND you

  • have registered for courses this current semester; OR
  • have registered for courses or intend to study in an upcoming semester

Please read through the Study Permit Renewal Instructions before extending your study permit

Note: you must apply to extend your study permit through IRCC before it expires.  If you have done so, as long as you remain in Canada, you can stay and study in Canada under Maintained Status until a decision is made to your application.  You may also register for courses at KPU under Maintained Status.

Please submit this online Study Permit Extension Letter Request Form.

Once you have successfully submitted the online form, you will receive an email confirming the receipt of your online form and your letter will be issued to your KPU email account within 20 business days.  You no longer need to come in-person to pick up your letter.

 

 

Letter of Explanation - Immigration Purposes

An Explanation Letter is a personal statement that candidates could prepare in a letter format and attach when they apply for their immigration permits from IRCC. It can be made for multiple purposes:

  • Student Permit Extension
  • Post-Graduation Work Permit 
  • A missing document
  • Highlighting achevements, or
  • Any other favor you need from the IRCC
When you apply for your immigration permits, there will be multiple sections to upload the documents. Please refer to "HOW" section to access KPU Letter of Explanation template.

A letter of explanation can help students with the immigration process in Canada, provide individuals with the opportunity to give explanations, clarify any discrepancies and demonstrate their eligbility for immigration applications. Please see an International Student Advisor at KPU International if you have any questions.

 

 

Post-Graduation Work Permit Letter

It is a personalized letter confirming the completion of your program requirements, issued after all steps of the graduation process are completed. This includes final approval by Senate. Detailed timeline on graduation can be found at www.kpu.ca/graduation

 

You have up to 180 days, after receiving confirmation that you have met the graduation requirements, to apply for a post-graduation work permit.

You no longer need to submit a request for a Post-graduation Work Permit letter, this process will be automated if you have submitted a graduation application and are approved to graduate.  Your PGWP letter will be issued to your KPU email account within 5 business days after you have been approved by the Senate to graduate.

* Important: make sure you submit your Graduation Application early and according to the deadlines posted by the Graduation Office
